Cricket’s global map is expanding fast — and some emerging nations are quietly building strong systems, star players, and fan bases. Here are five teams that could shake up the world order in the next decade.

1. United States 🇺🇸

Why they’re rising:
With Major League Cricket (MLC) attracting global stars and strong investment, the U.S. is serious about cricket. The 2024 T20 World Cup performance — including that stunning win over Pakistan — proved they can compete with the best.
Watch out for: Andries Gous, Ali Khan, Steven Taylor

2. Namibia 🇳🇦

Why they’re rising:
Namibia’s T20 consistency and fearless approach have earned them respect worldwide. Their structure, built around local talent and youth programs, makes them one of the best-run associate nations.
Watch out for: Gerhard Erasmus, JJ Smit, David Wiese

3. Nepal 🇳🇵

Why they’re rising:
Passionate fans, packed stadiums, and improving infrastructure — Nepal’s cricket is fueled by raw emotion and young talent. Their energetic style in T20Is has already turned heads.
Watch out for: Rohit Paudel, Sandeep Lamichhane, Kushal Bhurtel

4. Ireland ☘️

Why they’re rising (again):
Already a Test-playing nation, Ireland continues to punch above its weight. Their young batting core and fearless attitude suggest a bright white-ball future.
Watch out for: Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker, Josh Little

5. Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬

Why they’re rising:
They’ve built one of the most impressive grassroots systems in the Pacific. With regular World Cup appearances and improving domestic competition, PNG are on the cusp of something special.
Watch out for: Assad Vala, Tony Ura, Kiplin Doriga
