The World Championship of Legends (WCL) is set to return for its third season in October 2026, with organisers promising another star-studded edition featuring some of the biggest names in world cricket. Following the success of the first two seasons, the tournament — popularly known as the Legends World Cup — will once again bring together former international stars and active franchise cricketers from across the globe.
The previous edition of the tournament made headlines after the India Champions refused to play against Pakistan Champions in both the group stage and the semi-final. The controversy followed public criticism directed at Indian players and sponsors on social media after the Pahalgam terror attack. As a result, the group-stage clash was called off, while Pakistan advanced directly to the final after the semi-final was also forfeited.
WCL Season 3 will feature seven teams — India Champions, Pakistan Champions, England Champions, Australia Champions, South Africa Champions, West Indies Champions and Bangladesh Champions.
The tournament has earned a strong reputation for assembling a quality player pool, featuring legendary cricketers alongside active players who continue to participate in T20 leagues around the world and are not centrally contracted with their national boards.
Speaking about the upcoming season, Harshit Tomar said, “When we launched WCL, our vision was to create a tournament that goes beyond cricket — a celebration of the icons who shaped the game. In just two seasons, WCL has grown into a cricketing phenomenon, with fans eagerly waiting all year for the tournament. Season 3 is going to take that legacy to an entirely new level.”
Ajay Devgn, co-owner of the league, added, “WCL is more than just a cricket league — it is emotion, nostalgia and entertainment coming together on one platform. Looking forward to Season 3, it’s going to be our boldest season yet.”
The tournament has steadily gained popularity among cricket fans for reviving iconic rivalries and giving supporters the chance to watch celebrated stars return to competitive action once again.
Further details regarding squads, fixtures, venues and broadcast partnerships are expected to be announced through official WCL channels in the coming months as preparations begin for the October 2026 season.
