Post-Dream11 Exit, BCCI Hikes Jersey Sponsorship Rates by Over 10%

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revised the valuation of the Indian cricket team’s jersey sponsorship rights, setting a higher base price than what outgoing sponsor Dream11 had been paying.

According to industry sources, the new reserve price is pegged at INR 3.5 crore per bilateral match and INR 1.5 crore per multilateral fixture (ICC and ACC tournaments). This marks an increase from the existing INR 3.17 crore for bilateral games and INR 1.12 crore for multilateral matches — translating to an uplift of over 10% for bilateral contests and around 3% for multilateral ones.

The valuation gap between the two categories is natural. During bilateral matches, sponsors get maximum visibility with their logos displayed prominently on the front of players’ jerseys. In ICC and ACC events, however, the brand placement is restricted to the sleeves, resulting in reduced exposure.

The sponsorship will be offered for a three-year cycle, covering around 130 matches, including the 2026 T20 World Cup and the 2027 ODI World Cup. Based on the revised base price, the BCCI could potentially earn over INR 400 crore, with the final figure expected to go much higher once bidding concludes.

The bidding process is scheduled for September 16, effectively ruling out the possibility of a new sponsor being on board before the Asia Cup (September 9–28). A senior BCCI official confirmed that no interim sponsor arrangement is being considered.

Earlier this week (September 2), the board released the Invitation for Expression of Interest (IEOI) for the sponsorship rights. It clearly states that brands from categories such as gaming, betting, crypto, and tobacco are barred from bidding. Companies dealing in athleisure, sportswear, banking, financial services, non-alcoholic beverages, home appliances (like fans and mixer grinders), safety locks, and insurance are also ineligible due to potential conflicts with existing BCCI partners.

The hunt for a new lead sponsor comes after Dream11’s exit, prompted by the government’s Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, which banned real-money gaming companies in India.
