Chennai Super Kings face a do-or-die clash against Gujarat Titans in their final league game of the Indian Premier League 2026 season. The five-time champions are still mathematically alive in the playoff race, but their qualification hopes depend heavily on other results as well.
Led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK must defeat Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium to stay in contention for a place in the top four.
However, even a win may not guarantee qualification. A victory would take CSK to 14 points, but they would still need multiple results to go in their favour. If any one of Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, or Kolkata Knight Riders wins their remaining match, Chennai Super Kings will be eliminated from the playoff race.
CSK IPL 2026 Playoff Qualification Scenario
If CSK lose against GT
A defeat against Gujarat Titans will officially eliminate Chennai Super Kings from the IPL 2026 playoff race.
If GT vs CSK is washed out
If rain washes out the match and both teams share points, CSK will also be knocked out of the tournament.
If CSK beat GT
If Chennai Super Kings defeat Gujarat Titans, they will remain alive in the playoff race. However, they will also need the following results to go their way:
- Lucknow Super Giants to beat Punjab Kings on May 23
- Mumbai Indians to beat Rajasthan Royals on May 24
- Delhi Capitals to beat Kolkata Knight Riders on May 24
Only if all these results happen alongside a CSK victory will the Super Kings have a chance of qualifying for the IPL 2026 playoffs.
