Australia are set to tour Pakistan for a three-match T20I series, beginning January 29, with both teams using the short series as a crucial phase of preparation ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup.
With the global tournament in focus, the series offers both sides an opportunity to test squad depth and combinations. Several fresh faces have been included, while a number of established stars will miss the tour.
Australia’s T20I squad features uncapped youngsters who could make their international debut in the shortest format, including Mahli Beardman and Jack Edwards. However, the visitors will be without several senior players such as Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Glenn Maxwell, Sean Abbott and Tim David, with David ruled out due to injury.
Pakistan, meanwhile, will look to make the most of home conditions as they fine-tune their plans ahead of the World Cup.
