Winless Kolkata Knight Riders face another challenge as rain threatens to disrupt their IPL 2026 clash against Punjab Kings at Eden Gardens on Monday.
According to AccuWeather, showers are likely during the match, raising the possibility of a shortened contest under lights. With another fixture against Lucknow Super Giants also scheduled at the same venue under similar weather warnings, KKR’s early-season struggles could be further compounded.
The situation mirrors last season’s corresponding fixture on April 26, when rain forced both teams to share points. On that occasion, Punjab Kings, led by Shreyas Iyer, had posted 201/4 before KKR reached 7/0, only for persistent showers to wash out the game.
The current weather concerns stem from a low-pressure trough stretching from Bihar to Manipur, passing over North Bengal, Assam, and Bangladesh, as reported by IMD. With momentum already lacking, KKR will be hoping the rain stays away and allows them a fair shot at getting their campaign back on track.
