As the IPL 2026 season moves towards the final stage, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have made important replacement signings.

CSK have signed Kuldip Yadav in place of Khaleel Ahmed, while RCB have brought in England pacer Richard Gleeson as a replacement for Nuwan Thushara.

CSK Add Kuldip Yadav

Khaleel Ahmed’s exit leaves CSK without an experienced left-arm fast bowler. To fill that gap, the franchise has added Kuldip Yadav to the squad.

Kuldip may not be a well-known name yet, but he is seen as a reliable bowling option who can help the team if needed. At this stage of the tournament, teams usually focus more on squad balance and backup options rather than star signings.

CSK management has often trusted lesser-known players in the past, and fans will hope Kuldip can contribute if he gets a chance.

RCB Bring In Richard Gleeson

RCB’s signing of Richard Gleeson has caught more attention because of his experience in T20 cricket around the world.

The English pacer replaces Sri Lankan fast bowler Nuwan Thushara. Gleeson is known for his pace and ability to bowl under pressure, which could help RCB during the business end of the season.

RCB’s bowling attack has looked inconsistent at times, so adding an experienced fast bowler gives them another solid option.

Why These Replacements Matter

Many fans on social media joked that mid-May replacement signings are like “one-week internships” because there are only a few matches left. Still, late additions can sometimes make a big impact.

In the IPL, one strong performance in an important game can completely change a team’s season. Teams also need replacements because injuries and fitness issues become more common towards the end of long tournaments.

Final Thoughts

These may not be blockbuster signings, but both CSK and RCB have made practical decisions based on their squad needs.

Now all eyes will be on whether Kuldip Yadav and Richard Gleeson can make the most of their opportunities in IPL 2026.
