As India’s Test squad begins preparations in New Chandigarh for the one-off Test against Afghanistan starting June 6, attention has already shifted towards the ODI series that follows. The three-match ODI leg will begin in Dharamsala on June 13, with the Indian team set to undergo a short but intensive preparation camp beforehand.

According to a report by RevSportz, senior stars Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer are expected to train at the Mullanpur facility from June 9 to June 11 as part of India’s preparations for the 50-over series. The three-day camp will allow India’s white-ball core to fine-tune their game before travelling to Dharamsala for the opening ODI.

The report also states that several net bowlers currently attached to the Test squad could continue in Chandigarh to assist the ODI players during the camp. Among them, promising pacer Prince Yadav is expected to transition directly into the ODI squad after completing his net-bowling duties with the Test team.

Meanwhile, the availability of fast bowler Mohammed Siraj remains uncertain. The Indian team management and BCCI medical staff are closely monitoring his workload after a demanding IPL 2026 season with the Gujarat Titans.

Siraj featured in every match of Gujarat’s campaign, including the IPL final against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 31. With concerns over fatigue, the management is considering whether the pacer should be given a short break before returning to international cricket.

“Siraj has had a long season, and if he is rested, there is a bright possibility Gurnoor will play, and Nabi will come into the squad,” a source was quoted as saying.

If selected, Auqib Nabi could earn a major opportunity after an outstanding domestic season. The Jammu and Kashmir pacer picked up 60 wickets and played a crucial role in his side’s historic Ranji Trophy triumph. He is currently training with India’s Test squad alongside Gurjapneet Singh, Saransh Jain, Zeeshan Ansari, Shivang Kumar and Prince Yadav.

With the Test match against Afghanistan set to begin on June 6 and the ODI series starting a week later, India’s preparations for the white-ball leg are already gathering pace.
