Key Highlights

Royals’ Powerhouse Batting

After being put in to bat, RR faced an early stutter, losing Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi within the first two overs. However, skipper Riyan Parag played a captain’s knock, smashing 90 off 50 balls (8 fours, 5 sixes).

  • The Rebuild: Parag and Dhruv Jurel (42 off 30) put on a steady 102-run partnership.
  • The Late Surge: South African Donovan Ferreira provided a massive finish, bludgeoning 47* from just 14 balls, including 6 towering sixes, to propel RR past 220.

Capitals’ Historic Chase

DC’s openers made the daunting target of 226 look manageable with a blistering 110-run opening stand.

  • The Openers: Pathum Nissanka (62 off 33) took the lead as the aggressor, while KL Rahul anchored the chase with an elegant 75 off 40 balls.
  • The Finish: Despite a late double-strike by RR bowlers, Nitish Rana (33 off 17) and composure from Tristan Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma ensured DC crossed the line with nearly an over to spare.

Bowling Performances

  • Mitchell Starc (DC): Marked his return from injury with impressive figures of 3/40, picking up the crucial wickets of Parag and Ravindra Jadeja.
  • Ravindra Jadeja (RR): Was the pick of the Royals’ bowlers, providing the first breakthrough and finishing with 1/33.

Player of the Match: KL Rahul (75 off 40 balls).
