Kranti Gaud has set the tone for India’s campaign at the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, making it clear that the team’s focus is firmly on one goal — winning their first-ever title.
“It feels great to be heading into another major tournament, especially after our success in the ODI format,” Gaud said in an exclusive conversation. “Now, our focus is on doing the same in T20s. As a team, we’ve worked very hard and built strong trust in each other. Our aim is clear — we want to win the T20 World Cup and bring the trophy home for the first time.”
Highlighting the importance of team unity, she added, “Trust within the squad is very important. When everyone believes in each other, it reflects in performances on the field. That unity becomes crucial in high-pressure tournaments like the World Cup.”
Gaud also credited head coach Amol Muzumdar for her development and the team’s growth. “Amol Sir has been incredible. For me, he’s one of the best coaches in the world. He has helped me improve in every aspect — bowling, batting, and fielding. His guidance has played a huge role in my journey so far.”
Looking ahead to the conditions in England, Gaud expressed confidence in her preparation. “I’ve played in England before, and it was a great experience. The conditions suit my bowling, and I’m excited to give my 100 percent for the team.”
India face a challenging group that includes top sides like Australia, South Africa, and Pakistan, but Gaud remains unfazed. “It’s definitely a tough group with strong teams and back-to-back matches. But if we focus on our game, trust our preparation, and give our best, we can beat any team.”
She signed off with a message for fans: “Thank you for all the support. We’ll give everything on the field and hopefully make the country proud by winning the trophy.”
