First offline Mindset Camp held at Constitution Club of India focuses on practical mindset training, performance and the unseen journey of athletes

New Delhi: India’s Mindset Movement took its first major offline step with the inaugural Mindset Camp, held at the Constitution Club of India, bringing together athletes, parents and coaches for a focused conversation on mental fitness and its role in high-performance sport.

The event also witnessed the launch of ‘The Game Changer’, a 90-day high-performance Champions Journal designed specifically for athletes to develop greater self-awareness, focus, confidence and mental consistency through structured daily reflection.

The central question posed during the camp was simple: “How many hours do you work on your body in a week?” Athletes responded with figures ranging from 50 to 70 hours. When asked how many hours they spent working specifically on their mind, the responses were often just minutes or, in many cases, “zero.” The exercise highlighted a critical gap in sports preparation — athletes extensively train their bodies and skills, but often devote little structured time to training the mind that must execute those skills under pressure.

The camp focused on helping athletes understand the distinction between a skill-related challenge and a mindset-related challenge. Through practical, real-time exercises, participants explored situations such as nervousness before competition, fear of failure, self-doubt, overthinking, pressure, decision-making and reactions to mistakes.

Rather than being a conventional lecture, the camp encouraged athletes to experience these challenges and observe how thoughts can influence emotions, mental state, decision-making and ultimately performance.

“If an athlete can train their body for hours every week, we also need to ask how much time they are consciously giving to the mind that has to perform under pressure. Mental fitness cannot be something we turn to only when an athlete is struggling. It has to become a regular part of training, just like physical fitness, skill development, nutrition and recovery,” said the founder of India’s Mindset Movement.

The initiative is based on the belief that an athlete’s performance cannot always be improved simply by adding more physical or technical training. In situations where an athlete performs consistently in practice but struggles during critical moments of competition, factors such as pressure, nervousness, self-doubt and overthinking can play a significant role.

‘The Game Changer’ designed as a 90-day mental performance companion

A key highlight of the initiative was the launch of The Game Changer, a 90-day Champions Journal created to give athletes a structured space to reflect on their thoughts, emotions and performance.

The journal contains a different question for each of the 90 days, covering areas including confidence, focus, consistency, pressure, failure, self-talk, fear, visualisation, overthinking, energy, recovery, gratitude and joy.

The philosophy behind the journal is that athletes do not always need someone else to provide the answers; sometimes, asking the right question can help them discover answers that already exist within them.

The Game Changer has therefore been designed not as a manual prescribing how a champion should think, but as a tool that encourages athletes to understand how they themselves think.

The journal is intended to function as a “silent coach, guide and listener”, providing athletes with a judgement-free space where they can honestly record their mental state — whether they are nervous, confident, frustrated, proud, confused or struggling with self-doubt.

Celebrating the unseen work of athletes

The programme also featured the The Game Changer Awards 2026, an initiative aimed at recognising aspects of an athlete’s journey that are often invisible on a scoreboard.

While sporting recognition traditionally focuses on medals, records, selections and victories, the awards seek to acknowledge the process behind those achievements, including overcoming fear, rebuilding confidence, dealing with failure, developing consistency and persevering through challenges.

The initiative also recognises the contribution of parents and coaches, who play an integral role in an athlete’s journey.

The philosophy is to expand the definition of sporting success from simply asking “What did you win?” to also asking “What did you overcome to get here?”

Taking mental fitness beyond elite sport

India’s Mindset Movement aims to make mental fitness an integral part of an athlete’s journey, from grassroots sport to elite competition.

The movement seeks to encourage athletes, parents, coaches, academies and sporting associations to treat mental preparation with the same seriousness accorded to physical conditioning, technical skills, nutrition and recovery.

The founder, who has worked with athletes on mindset and performance for nearly nine years, has closely observed the demands placed on athletes — from training and injuries to selection pressure, competition, expectations and the emotional impact of failures and setbacks.

Having herself been a basketball player, she brings a personal connection to the movement. She had to step away from sport despite having aspirations of pursuing it, following a decision taken by her parents with the intention of securing her future. The experience eventually shaped her desire to work with athletes and help them navigate the mental challenges that accompany sporting dreams.

“I know what a sporting dream means to a player. While I could not continue my own journey as a player, I realised that I could work with players who are still in the middle of theirs. For me, the objective is not only to improve performance but to understand athletes and work on the part of their preparation that is often trained the least, yet becomes most visible in the most important moments — their mind,” she said.

Distinguished guests join the movement

The inaugural Mindset Camp was attended by Chief Guest Air Commodore A. K. Chaudhary, while Disha Kasat, captain of the Vidarbha Women’s Cricket Team, former RCB player and India A representative, joined the programme as the Special Guest.

Players, parents and coaches from different sporting disciplines also participated in the camp and engaged with the practical exercises and discussions.

For India’s Mindset Movement, the August 23 programme marks the beginning of a larger effort to take structured mental fitness training to more athletes, academies, coaches, associations and sporting communities across the country.

The movement’s larger vision is to ensure that the next generation of Indian champions are prepared not only physically, technically and tactically, but also mentally for the decisive moments that define sporting performance.

“Physical fitness has become a natural part of sports training. The next step is to make mental fitness equally natural,” is the core philosophy behind India’s Mindset Movement and The Game Changer.
