Young pacer Anshul Kamboj, 24, has made his Test debut for India in the fourth Test against England in Manchester, becoming the 318th cricketer to represent the country in the format. He replaces Akash Deep in the playing XI.
The right-arm medium pacer from Karnal, Haryana, has been on the selectors’ radar for a while, especially after his historic 10-wicket haul in a Ranji Trophy match last year. Playing for Haryana against Kerala in Rohtak, Kamboj returned remarkable figures of 10 for 49 in 30.1 overs—only the third bowler in Ranji Trophy history to achieve this feat.
He joined an elite club of Indian bowlers to take all 10 wickets in an innings in First-Class cricket, alongside Anil Kumble, Subhash Gupte, and Debashish Mohanty.
Kamboj continued his rise in the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy, picking up 17 wickets in 10 matches and playing a key role in Haryana’s maiden title win.
More recently, he impressed for India A against the England Lions in Northampton (June 6–9, 2025), taking two wickets in each innings and scoring an unbeaten 51 in the second innings of the drawn game.
In the IPL, Kamboj was signed by Chennai Super Kings for ₹3.40 crore in the 2024 mega auction. He picked up eight wickets in eight matches during the 2025 season.
With a string of standout performances behind him, Kamboj now takes a big step forward—onto the Test stage.
