Patna (Bihar) [India], May 28, 2026: The Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) has congratulated Bihar’s young batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi for breaking Chris Gayle record and achieving a historic milestone in IPL on Wednesday.
In the IPL Eliminator match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi registered the record for hitting the most sixes in a single IPL season. During the match, he struck his 60th six of the season, surpassing Chris Gayle’s record of 59 sixes in a single IPL edition.
Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) President Harsh Vardhan said that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has given Bihar cricket a new identity through his hard work, discipline, and dedication towards the game. He said that creating multiple records, including the most sixes in a single IPL season, is a remarkable achievement.
He further added that, along with millions of fans around the world, he was eagerly waiting for Vaibhav’s century. He expressed confidence that no record in world cricket would remain beyond the reach of this extraordinary player.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s explosive innings of 97 runs off just 29 balls against SRH, which included 12 sixes and 5 fours, has become a matter of immense pride for the entire state of Bihar.
Throughout the IPL 2026 season, he played several crucial innings and strengthened his team in decisive matches.
