South Africa Women are set to tour Zimbabwe for the first time in history later this year, with Zimbabwe Cricket confirming a five-match T20I series scheduled for September 2026 at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.
The series will mark the first bilateral meeting between the two sides at senior level. Their only previous encounters came during a quadrangular series in South Africa back in May 2017.
Zimbabwe Women last hosted an international series in September-October 2025 against the UAE Women’s team before travelling to New Zealand and Pakistan for away assignments. However, Zimbabwe endured a disappointing campaign in the Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier held in Nepal earlier this year and failed to secure a place in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which begins in England next month.
Zimbabwe Cricket Managing Director Givemore Makoni welcomed the tour and highlighted its importance for the growth of women’s cricket in the country.
“We are delighted to host South Africa Women for what promises to be a historic and exciting series. South Africa are among the strongest teams in world cricket, and this tour will give our players a valuable opportunity to test themselves against top-quality opposition in home conditions. It also reflects Zimbabwe Cricket’s continued commitment to developing the women’s game and providing more opportunities for players to compete at the highest level,” Makoni said.
