Anushka Sharma was spotted cheering from the stands at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium as Virat Kohli turned out for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their IPL 2026 clash against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday, April 5.
Opening the innings, Kohli scored a brisk 28 off 18 balls, striking two fours and a six while stitching a quick 37-run stand with Phil Salt. One of the highlights of his knock was a stylish no-look six off Matt Henry, which prompted a delighted reaction from Anushka in the stands — a moment that quickly went viral.
Kohli looked in good touch early on but couldn’t convert his start into a big score, eventually falling to Anshul Kamboj in the fifth over, with Shivam Dube completing the catch.
Despite the early dismissal, Kohli achieved a major milestone during his knock. He became the player with the most runs against a single team in T20 cricket, surpassing all previous records with over 1180 runs against CSK. He also extended his tally to 1174 runs against the same opposition in the IPL — the highest by any batter.
For comparison, Rohit Sharma sits second on the list, having scored 1161 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders in T20s.
Kohli also came close to another historic feat. Had he struck three more sixes, he would have become the first player to hit 300 sixes for a single franchise in IPL history. Currently, he stands at 297 sixes for RCB, underlining his incredible longevity and dominance in the league.
