Ram Charan was the centre of attention at the grand music launch event of his much-awaited sports drama Peddi held at the BHEL Dussehra Maidan. The actor shared the stage with music maestro A. R. Rahman, co-star Janhvi Kapoor and the rest of the cast and crew, creating a memorable evening for fans.
However, it was Ram Charan’s fun interaction with the crowd that quickly became the biggest talking point online.
During a light-hearted rapid-fire session, the host asked the actor to describe some of India’s biggest cricketing icons in just a few words. Ram Charan came up with quick and crowd-pleasing responses that immediately connected with fans.
Speaking about Sachin Tendulkar, he described him as a “long, legendary run.” He called MS Dhoni “calm and cool,” while referring to current India captain Rohit Sharma as “everybody’s man.” For Virat Kohli, Ram Charan used just one powerful word — “Fire.”
But the fun segment took an unexpected turn when he spoke about star pacer Jasprit Bumrah. In a moment of excitement, the actor accidentally mixed up sports and thanked Bumrah for taking Indian football to global heights. The clip instantly went viral on social media, with fans flooding the internet with humorous memes and reactions.
Realising the mistake soon after the event, Ram Charan took to X (formerly Twitter) to issue a heartfelt apology.
“Uff… I’m genuinely so forgetful with names sometimes. Apologies to Jasprit Bumrah Ji for the mix-up — it was a genuine human error in the middle of all the excitement and the crowd. I truly respect you and I am a huge fan of your game. You make every Indian feel proud when you consistently put batsmen on the back foot,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, Bumrah’s IPL 2026 campaign with Mumbai Indians has not been completely smooth. Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene recently revealed that the star pacer has been managing a slight injury niggle since the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
According to Jayawardene, the franchise has been carefully monitoring Bumrah’s workload and recovery. Opponents have also played him cautiously this season, limiting him to just four wickets in 13 matches. Despite the modest numbers, the MI coach remains optimistic and believes Bumrah is gradually regaining his rhythm, pace and trademark yorkers at the business end of the tournament.
