Music composer Palash Muchhal has landed in legal trouble after a case was registered against him under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act in Maharashtra’s Sangli district.
The complaint was filed by Vidnyan Prakash Mane, a Marathi actor and producer who is reportedly a childhood friend of Smriti Mandhana.
According to reports, the dispute between Muchhal and Mane stemmed from a financial disagreement related to a film project, which allegedly escalated into a confrontation. Mane has accused Muchhal of making caste-based derogatory remarks during the altercation. The complaint also includes allegations of cheating, intimidation, and financial misconduct linked to an estimated ₹25 lakh transaction.
The incident is said to have taken place near the Sangli–Ashta road toll plaza. Following the complaint, police registered a case under relevant sections of the SC/ST Act along with additional charges. Authorities are currently investigating the matter and are expected to record statements from both parties.
Reports suggest the disagreement originated over investments in a film project, with Mane claiming that funds were not returned as agreed. However, the exact nature of the financial arrangement remains unclear, and the case is still under investigation.
So far, Muchhal and his legal team have not issued any public statement regarding the allegations.
The controversy has gained significant attention online due to Muchhal’s reported past relationship with Smriti Mandhana. Several reports had earlier suggested that the two were engaged before parting ways last year. Additionally, Mane’s reported personal connection with Mandhana has further fueled public interest.
However, there is currently no indication that Mandhana has any involvement in the legal dispute.
As the investigation progresses, further details are expected to emerge, with authorities examining all claims before taking the next steps.
