A Pakistani cricketer recently found himself in an unusual off-field moment after being stopped by traffic police for allegedly violating road safety rules. A video circulating on social media shows a policeman pulling over a car and questioning its occupants for not wearing seat belts.

The interaction took a humorous turn when the officer recognised one of the passengers as Irfan Khan Niazi. After identifying the young cricketer, the policeman shifted the conversation towards cricket and even spoke about Hyderabad Kingsmen’s impressive campaign in the recent Pakistan Super League.

Irfan represented Hyderabad Kingsmen during PSL 2026, where the franchise finished runners-up in their debut season.

The officer initially asked Irfan whether he had fastened his seat belt before informing him about the penalty for the violation. In a light-hearted exchange, the policeman told the 23-year-old that he was an “asset” to Pakistan and should prioritise his safety by following traffic rules.

He jokingly mentioned a PKR 5,000 fine before eventually letting the cricketer off with only a warning.

Irfan made his international debut for Pakistan National Cricket Team in April 2024 and has since featured in nine ODIs and 14 T20Is. He has scored 48 ODI runs and picked up three wickets, while in T20Is he has accumulated 189 runs at a strike rate of 135.

In PSL 2026, Irfan managed 149 runs from 10 innings at a strike rate of 125.21.

Hyderabad Kingsmen, captained by Marnus Labuschagne, enjoyed a memorable maiden PSL season. After losing their first four matches, the side bounced back with a remarkable turnaround, winning seven of their next matches to reach the final. However, they eventually lost the title clash to Peshawar Zalmi led by Babar Azam.
