Indian cricketers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shafali Verma have reportedly received notices from the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) after missing dope tests last year.
According to PTI, both players, who are part of NADA’s Registered Testing Pool (RTP), failed to provide explanations for missing the scheduled tests, prompting the anti-doping body to issue formal notices.
“Notices have been issued to the concerned athletes, and the same has been intimated to the national federation (the BCCI) and the ICC,” a source told PTI.
NADA declined to comment on the matter, citing the confidentiality of the anti-doping process. However, a BCCI source confirmed that the board had received communication from the agency.
“Yes, we have received notification from NADA on missed tests. We will check with them as to how it happened and take necessary steps so that such things do not happen in future. Cricket is back in the Olympics, and we need to adhere to all the protocols so that everything goes on smoothly,” the BCCI source said.
Cricket is set to return at the 2028 Summer Olympics after more than a century.
Under RTP regulations, athletes are required to regularly update their whereabouts information and remain available for testing during a designated one-hour time slot each day. Three whereabouts failures within a 12-month period can be treated as an anti-doping rule violation and may lead to suspension.
At present, 13 cricketers are part of NADA’s RTP list, which includes a total of 348 athletes across different sports disciplines.
Among the latest additions to the pool are Abhishek Sharma and Axar Patel, who replaced Smriti Mandhana and Shreyas Iyer in the revised roster.
Other prominent cricketers currently in the RTP include Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, Arshdeep Singh and Tilak Varma.
From the Indian women’s team, which won the ODI World Cup last year, Deepti Sharma, Shafali Verma and Renuka Singh Thakur are also part of the RTP list.
