~ Tournament expands from 42 to 60 teams in its second season, with over 700 players set to compete across five venues in Delhi ~
New Delhi, June 5, 2026: The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) on Friday officially inaugurated the second edition of the DDCA Women’s T20 League at Modern School, Barakhamba Road, marking the beginning of the largest women’s club cricket competitions in the capital.
The tournament has witnessed significant growth in its second season, expanding from 42 teams in its inaugural edition to 60 teams this year, with more than 700 players set to participate across multiple venues in Delhi over the coming weeks.
The competition brings together some of the best emerging cricketers in the city, including several players who have represented Delhi at various levels, and serves as an important platform in the state’s women’s cricket pathway.
DDCA President Rohan Jaitley inaugurated the tournament in the presence of members of the DDCA Apex Council, League Committee officials, club representatives and participating players.
Speaking on the occasion, DDCA President Rohan Jaitley said, “The response to the Women’s T20 League over the last year has been extremely encouraging. We started this tournament to give young girls more opportunities to play competitive cricket and it is great to see it grow from 42 teams to 60 teams in just its second edition. Our aim is to create year-round opportunities for women cricketers, strengthen the pathway from club cricket to higher levels and ensure that talented players get the platform they deserve. I wish all the participating teams and players the very best for the tournament.”
DDCA Vice President Shikha Kumar said, “It is wonderful to see so many girls taking part in the competition this year. More than 700 players will feature in this edition and that itself shows how much women’s cricket is growing in Delhi. The platform is there for these players to showcase their talent and make a mark. Many of them will have bigger opportunities ahead and tournaments like these are an important step in that journey.”
DDCA Secretary Ashok Sharma said, “The clubs of Delhi have always been the backbone of our cricket structure and their support has been vital in making this tournament bigger and stronger. When we started this competition, the idea was to widen the talent pool and create more playing opportunities for women cricketers. The growth in participation this year is very encouraging and I would like to thank the clubs, the League Committee and everyone involved in organising the tournament. My best wishes to all the players taking part.”
The DDCA Women’s T20 League 2026 will feature league-stage matches across multiple venues before culminating in the final later this season.
