However, former Pakistan captain Mohammad Yousuf believes that iconic victory may have had unintended consequences. Speaking on the ‘How Does It Work?’ podcast, Yousuf claimed the win led to complacency within the squad.
According to him, several players began to feel “no one was better than them” after beating India, which affected their attitude and discipline. He added that some players even became disrespectful towards coaches, marking the beginning of Pakistan’s decline in international cricket.
Yousuf stressed the importance of staying grounded, citing legends like Saeed Anwar, Inzamam-ul-Haq, and Javed Miandad as examples of players who maintained humility despite their success.
