Jammu and Kashmir have scripted history by reaching the final of the Ranji Trophy 2025–26 for the first time ever. The landmark achievement has sparked celebrations back home, but fast bowler Auqib Nabi insists he is staying focused on the task ahead.

“I am just focusing on the present. I’m not paying attention to outside noise. I will try to get more wickets in the final and stick to the process that has worked for me so far,” Nabi told PTI, adding that expectations do not distract him.

The pacer, who is the second-highest wicket-taker this season, said the team’s confidence stems from their performances in away conditions. J&K have registered impressive wins at Delhi, Bengal and Madhya Pradesh’s home grounds en route to the final.

“We’ve worked hard for years for this moment. The final is a big game, but everyone is positive. Winning at opponents’ home grounds has given us a big boost,” he said.

Nabi emphasised the importance of discipline and adaptability against Karnataka in the summit clash. “No matter the pitch or conditions, I need to bowl in the same channel outside the off-stump. That’s what brought me wickets this season. At the same time, adapting quickly will be key,” he noted.

He also credited head coach Ajay Sharma and bowling coach P Krishnakumar for transforming the team’s mindset and performance. “Having a bowling coach over the last few years has made a drastic difference. We now get regular feedback, which has helped us improve as a unit,” Nabi said.

Jammu and Kashmir will face Karnataka cricket team in the Ranji Trophy final starting February 24 at the KSCA Hubli Cricket Ground in Hubli.

With momentum on their side and belief running high, J&K now stand one step away from completing a fairytale campaign.
