In T20 cricket, dot balls are often as valuable as wickets. Every dot ball adds pressure on the batting side and increases the chances of mistakes. The IPL 2026 season saw several teams use this strategy effectively, with some bowling attacks standing out for their ability to keep batters quiet. Here are the five teams that bowled the highest percentage of dot balls this season.

Gujrat Titans – 40.2%

Gujarat Titans topped the chart with a remarkable 40.2% dot-ball percentage. Their bowlers consistently denied easy runs and kept batters under pressure throughout the tournament. The pace attack was particularly effective, helping GT control games from the start and create wicket-taking opportunities.

Kolkata Knight Riders – 37.0%

KKR finished second with 37.0% dot balls. Their bowlers did a great job of slowing down scoring rates, especially during the middle overs. The combination of pace and spin allowed them to maintain pressure and make life difficult for opposition batters.

Chennai Super Kings – 35.3%

Chennai Super Kings secured the third spot with 35.3%. Known for their disciplined approach, CSK relied on accuracy and smart bowling plans rather than simply chasing wickets.Their experienced bowling unit consistently restricted scoring opportunities with their perfect line and length.

Lucknow Super Giants – 34.6%

LSG came in fourth with a dot-ball percentage of 34.6%. Their bowlers regularly delivered tight spells and prevented batters from finding momentum. This ability to build pressure played a key role in several of their strong performances during the season.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru – 34.3%

RCB completed the top five with 34.3%. Their bowling attack, particularly the pacers, helped keep opposition batters in check. By regularly bowling dot balls, RCB managed to create pressure situations that often led to wickets.

Final Word

The IPL 2026 numbers show that disciplined bowling remains one of the biggest factors behind success in T20 cricket. Gujarat Titans led the way with an outstanding 40.2% dot-ball rate, followed by KKR, CSK, LSG, and RCB. While big sixes often grab attention, these teams proved that controlling runs through dot balls can be just as important in winning matches.
