The Indian Premier League 2026 points table witnessed a major shake-up after Match 52 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Saturday, May 9.
Gujarat Titans produced a dominant all-round display to crush Rajasthan Royals by 77 runs and climb to second place in the standings, just behind table-toppers Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Led by a classy 84 from captain Shubman Gill and a brilliant four-wicket haul from Rashid Khan, the Titans strengthened their playoff push with their fourth consecutive victory.
After posting a massive 229/4, GT’s bowlers dismantled the Royals’ batting line-up and bowled them out for 152. Rashid starred with figures of 4/33, while the rest of the attack chipped in to ensure a comprehensive win.
The victory also gave Gujarat a huge boost in Net Run Rate (NRR), helping them move ahead of Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the standings. With 14 points from 11 matches, Gill’s side now looks well on course for a playoff berth and needs just one more win to almost seal qualification.
For the Royals, however, it turned into a forgettable evening at home. Despite a fiery 36 off 16 balls from teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and a fighting 24 from Dhruv Jurel, RR never looked in control of the chase.
The absence of injured captain Riyan Parag due to a hamstring issue also hurt the middle order badly.
Following the defeat, Rajasthan slipped to fifth place on the table, while their NRR dropped to +0.082. With three league-stage matches remaining, the Royals are now staring at a must-win situation to stay ahead in the tightly contested playoff race.
