The Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026 witnessed one of its most bizarre moments on Tuesday as New Delhi Tigers captain Himmat Singh’s moment of frustration turned into an extraordinary run-out that forced the season’s first Super Over.
Defending 156 in a rain-curtailed 15-over contest, the Tigers needed to stop Outer Delhi Warriors from scoring a single off the final ball. Chasing 157, the Warriors required just one run with one wicket in hand to seal victory.
The batter could only drive the final delivery straight down the ground. Himmat charged in from mid-off but failed to gather the ball cleanly, allowing both batters to attempt a desperate single.
In frustration, Himmat instinctively kicked the ball after the fumble. In an incredible twist, the ball struck the stumps at the non-striker’s end before Pratham Saluja could complete his run, resulting in a dramatic run-out that tied the match and sent it into the first Super Over of DPL 2026.
The unusual dismissal left players from both teams stunned, with Himmat’s emotions changing instantly from disappointment to celebration as his teammates rushed onto the field. The dramatic sequence quickly went viral across social media.
The excitement, however, did not end there. Outer Delhi Warriors regrouped brilliantly in the Super Over, posting 20 runs before restricting New Delhi Tigers to secure a memorable victory.
Himmat also made a significant contribution with the bat earlier in the evening, smashing 61 off just 25 deliveries to help New Delhi Tigers post 156/5 after the match was reduced to 15 overs due to rain.
