In a high-stakes clash between the second and third-placed teams in IPL 2026, Gujarat Titans produced a dominant all-round display to crush Sunrisers Hyderabad by 82 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Batting first on a tricky two-paced surface, GT found themselves under pressure early after Praful Hinge dismissed both Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler inside the powerplay, reducing the hosts to 34/2.

However, Sai Sudharsan anchored the innings brilliantly with a composed 61 off 44 balls, while Washington Sundar provided the much-needed acceleration with a superb 50 off 33 deliveries. The duo stitched together a crucial 60-run partnership that helped Gujarat recover and post 168/7.

SRH’s chase fell apart almost immediately.

Mohammed Siraj struck in the very first over by dismissing Travis Head, before Kagiso Rabada ripped through the top order.

Rabada removed Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and R Smaran as SRH slumped to 32/4 inside the powerplay.

Jason Holder then added to the carnage, dismissing key batters including Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy as SRH were bundled out for just 86 in 14.5 overs.

The emphatic victory lifted Gujarat Titans from third to first in the IPL 2026 standings. GT now have 16 points from 12 matches, while their Net Run Rate improved significantly from +0.228 to +0.551.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, meanwhile, slipped from second to third after suffering their fifth defeat of the season. Their NRR also took a major hit, dropping from +0.737 to +0.331.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru moved down to second place despite not playing, while the rest of the table remained unchanged. Punjab Kings stayed fourth on 13 points, followed by Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals on 12 points each.

Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants round out the standings.
