Indore, Madhya Pradesh, June 11: Bhopal Wolves concluded their women’s competition in the Aditya Birla Group Madhya Pradesh League (MPL) T20 Scindia Cup 2026 with a 6-wicket win over Royal Nimar Eagles at Daly College, Indore.
Royal Nimar Eagles were restricted to 114/8 in their 20 overs against Bhopal Wolves, courtesy of a disciplined bowling performance led by Hanshikha Kirar, Aayushi Shukla, and Priyanka Koushal, who never allowed the opposition batters to gain control.
The Eagles suffered an early setback when Harshita Singh was dismissed for 9 off 20 balls. Her wicket triggered a mini-collapse, with the side slipping to 29/3 in the eighth over.
Attempting to rebuild the innings, Soniya Singh and Lakshita Maheshwari stitched together a valuable 36-run partnership for the fourth wicket before Soniya was dismissed for 28 off 28 deliveries. Maheshwari then found support from captain Nikita Singh, with the duo adding another 30 runs to steady the innings.
However, the Eagles lost momentum once the skipper departed. A flurry of wickets followed, and the side struggled to find any substantial resistance in the closing overs.
For Bhopal Wolves, Hanshikha Kirar was impressive with figures of 2/15 in four overs, while Aayushi Shukla claimed 2/18 in three overs. Priyanka Koushal also chipped in with 2/20 from her four-over spell, playing a key role in restricting the Eagles to a modest total.
In reply, Bhopal Wolves also suffered an early setback, but Aayushi Shukla and Roshani Kumar steadied the chase with a crucial 32-run partnership. Roshani played an attacking knock of 27 off 18 balls before being dismissed, while Shukla contributed 22 off 28 deliveries before falling in the 10th over.
With the chase delicately poised, captain Sanskriti Gupta and Reena Yadav took charge and began to counterattack. The pair added 29 valuable runs to keep the Wolves on course before Reena departed for a brisk 20 off 13 balls, leaving her side needing another 30 runs for victory.
However, there were no further setbacks as Sanskriti Gupta and Rashita Parihar guided the Wolves home. Sanskriti remained unbeaten on 34 off 21 deliveries, while Parihar chipped in with an unbeaten 13 off 10 balls, helping Bhopal Wolves complete a comfortable chase.
Reflecting on the journey in this edition and the final game, the skipper said, “Our mindset before this match was very clear, we wanted to finish the tournament on a positive note. No matter the situation, winning this game was important for us because it was our final match of the season. A victory gives the team confidence and helps us prepare better for future tournaments and challenges.”
“One area where we fell short during the tournament was our batting. We have a very strong batting unit with depth in the lineup, but unfortunately things didn’t click for us in the earlier matches. It was pleasing to see the batters contribute in this game, and hopefully we can carry that confidence forward,” she concluded.
