The third edition of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) will begin on July 31 at the iconic Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, promising another month of high-quality T20 cricket featuring some of Delhi’s biggest domestic stars alongside the city’s emerging talent.
All 57 matches of the tournament, including the final on August 30, will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. During the league stage, each of the eight teams will face every other side twice, with the top four qualifying for the playoffs.
The knockout stage will follow the Indian Premier League (IPL) format. The top two teams after the league stage will meet in Qualifier 1, with the winner advancing directly to the final, while the remaining playoff matches will decide the second finalist.
The tournament will get underway with an exciting clash between Central Delhi Kings and Purani Dilli 6. India U-19 World Cup-winning captain Yash Dhull will lead Central Delhi Kings, while Anuj Rawat, who represents Gujarat Titans in the IPL, will captain Purani Dilli 6.
“It is an honour to captain Purani Dilli 6. We have assembled a balanced squad with a good mix of experienced and young players. The atmosphere around the league is fantastic, and we are looking forward to playing in front of our home fans. The aim is to play positive cricket and give our best in every match,” Rawat said.
Dhull believes the DPL continues to play a vital role in developing Delhi’s cricketing talent.
“The DPL provides a wonderful platform for Delhi’s cricketers to showcase their talent. We have built a strong unit, and the goal is to play fearless cricket while maintaining consistency throughout the tournament,” he said.
The league will once again feature several IPL stars, including Harshit Rana, Mayank Yadav, Navdeep Saini, Nitish Rana, Ayush Badoni, Digvesh Rathi, Lalit Yadav, Simarjeet Singh, Priyansh Arya, Suyash Sharma, Kulwant Khejroliya, Himmat Singh and Hritik Shokeen.
The eight participating teams are Central Delhi Kings, East Delhi Riders, New Delhi Tigers, North Delhi Strikers, Outer Delhi Warriors, Purani Dilli 6, South Delhi Superstarz and West Delhi Lions.
