The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) has informed the BCCI about an alleged corruption approach during the Delhi Premier League (DPL), with the state association saying it has been in touch with the board since Tehelka published a report alleging corruption involving the DPL and IPL.
A top DDCA official told Cricbuzz that the association had sought guidance from the BCCI and would follow the board’s directions.
“We have asked the BCCI with regards to this. We will abide by the BCCI advice – what they advise. Any person involved in the anti-corruption activity will not be spared. He or they will be held accountable,” the official said.
The official added that the DPL was monitored by the BCCI’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU), with an anti-corruption official attached to each team.
The DDCA official also confirmed that during the recent DPL season, Delhi wicketkeeper-batter Vansh Bedi was approached by a player from Uttar Pradesh. According to the official, the approach was immediately reported to the ACU.
Bedi, 23, was picked by Chennai Super Kings ahead of the 2025 IPL season. He was released after the season and remained unsold at the 2026 auction.
However, Bedi has denied any involvement in the allegations. In a social media post, he said: “I would like to clarify certain false and defamatory content circulating on social media and websites concerning me. I categorically state that I am not the individual referred to by Ex-Ranji Trophy cricketer Rachit Bhatia in the Tehelka sting operation concerning alleged match-fixing involving a CSK player, nor do I have any involvement whatsoever in any such activity.”
Earlier, the DDCA issued an official statement saying it had shared the information that had come to its notice with the relevant authorities.
“Given the seriousness of the matter, DDCA has written to the respective authorities and shared the information that has come to its notice, requesting that the matter be examined through the appropriate established processes,” the association said.
Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings have said they will examine the allegations made in the Tehelka report, which claimed that matches involving the franchise were fixed during the 2025 season.
A CSK official said the franchise’s board would discuss the measures to be initiated. According to Cricbuzz, the CSK board is expected to meet within the next 24 hours ahead of the franchise’s Annual General Meeting scheduled for September 25.
The Tehelka report alleged that a CSK player provided classified information to a Delhi-based former first-class cricketer, who allegedly passed the details to London-based bookmakers in exchange for INR 60 lakh for a match during the 2025 season.
The report further alleged that the former first-class player, who had represented his team in six first-class matches, claimed during an undercover interaction that he had earned INR 3 crore by selling such information.
It also alleged that Rachit Bhatia had contacts within a DPL team and could provide information about playing XIs before matches.
The allegations have not been independently established, and the DDCA has said the matter has been referred to the appropriate authorities for examination.
