24-year-old Anshul Kamboj made his Test debut for India on Wednesday (July 23) in the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford, Manchester. The right-arm medium pacer from Karnal replaced Akash Deep in the playing XI and became the 318th cricketer to represent India in Tests.
Kamboj shot to fame last year after taking all 10 wickets in a Ranji Trophy innings for Haryana against Kerala in Rohtak. Since his first-class debut in February 2022, he has taken 79 wickets in 24 matches, with two five-wicket hauls, and scored 486 runs, including a career-best 51 against England Lions* last month.
He last played a competitive match from June 6–9, 2025, for India A against England Lions in Northampton, where he impressed with 2 wickets in each innings and an unbeaten 51 with the bat.
IPL Journey
Anshul was signed by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for ₹3.40 crore in the 2025 mega auction. He debuted for CSK against KKR on April 11, finishing the season with 8 wickets in 8 matches. He had previously played 3 games for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024, taking 2 wickets.
Early Career
Kamboj made his first-class debut for Haryana in February 2022 against Tripura. While he went wicketless in his debut, he made a mark in his next match against Punjab, dismissing Prabhsimran Singh with the first ball and taking 2/116 in the innings.
In the 2024 Duleep Trophy, he represented India C and picked up 16 wickets in three matches, further strengthening his case for national selection.
