The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has withdrawn the No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued to Mustafizur Rahman for the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 following medical concerns after the third ODI against New Zealand national cricket team.

In an official statement, the BCB confirmed that the left-arm pacer will undergo further medical evaluation, including an immediate scan, before beginning a rehabilitation programme under the supervision of the board’s medical team.

“It has been decided that the player will undergo an immediate scan to further assess his condition, after which he will commence a rehabilitation programme under the supervision of the BCB Medical Team,” the statement read.

As a result, Mustafizur will miss the remainder of PSL 2026.

“The Board has withdrawn the No Objection Certificate (NOC) previously issued to Mustafizur. He will therefore not be available to participate in the remainder of PSL 2026,” the release added.

Nahid Rana Also Withheld for Test Preparations

In a separate decision, the BCB confirmed that promising pacer Nahid Rana will also not be released for the PSL. The move is aimed at ensuring his preparation for the upcoming Test series against Pakistan national cricket team.

“This decision has been taken to allow him adequate time to prepare for the upcoming Test series against Pakistan next month,” the board stated.

Bangladesh Beat New Zealand, Seal ODI Series

Meanwhile, Bangladesh recently secured a 55-run victory over New Zealand in the third ODI to clinch the series 2-1. Defending a total of 265, the hosts delivered a strong all-round performance, with Nahid Rana earning Player of the Series honours.

New Faces in T20I Squad vs New Zealand

Bangladesh have named a refreshed squad for the first two T20Is against New Zealand, starting April 27 in Chattogram. Key pacers, including Mustafizur, Taskin Ahmed, and Nahid Rana, have been rested.

Notable inclusions include pace-bowling all-rounder Abdul Gaffar Saqlain, who has earned his maiden T20I call-up, and death-overs specialist Ripon Mondal, rewarded for his domestic performances.

Bangladesh squad (first two T20Is):
Litton Das (C), Parvez Hossain Emon, Tanzid Hasan, Saif Hassan, Shamim Hossain, Towhid Hridoy, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Mahedi Hasan, Nasum Ahmed, Rishad Hossain, Shoriful Islam, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Ripon Mondal, Shafiul Uddin, Abdul Gaffar Saqlain.

Following the T20I series, Bangladesh will host Pakistan for a two-match Test series starting May 8.
