India’s World Cup win wasn’t just about individual brilliance — it was about smart planning, fearless decisions, and tactical mastery from the dressing room. Here are five strategic moves that shaped India’s path to glory.

1️⃣ Promoting Jemimah Rodrigues Up the Order

When India were under early pressure in key matches, the decision to send Jemimah up the order paid off massively. Her ability to rotate strike and handle pace and spin alike gave India stability — none bigger than her match-winning 127* against Australia in the semifinal.

2️⃣ The Left-Arm Spin Trap: Shree Charani’s Impact

Australia looked unstoppable at 200/2 until India unleashed Shree Charani. Using her left-arm angle to exploit the rough outside off stump, she dismissed Beth Mooney and Annabel Sutherland in quick succession — a tactical move that broke Australia’s momentum and opened the door for India’s comeback.

3️⃣ Holding Back Richa Ghosh as a Finisher

Rather than using Richa early, India’s think-tank reserved her for the final phase. Her power hitting in the death overs — like the quickfire 26 (15) in the semifinal — turned chases from tense to clinical. It was a masterstroke to trust her as the designated finisher.

4️⃣ Controlled Aggression in the Powerplays

India’s approach with the new ball — both while batting and bowling — was calculated. Instead of going all-out early, they focused on preserving wickets and applying pressure through disciplined lines. This patience allowed them to dominate in the middle overs and finish strong.

5️⃣ Calm Leadership and Smart Rotations by Harmanpreet Kaur

Harmanpreet’s captaincy combined intuition with precision. She rotated her bowlers smartly, trusted her spinners in pressure moments, and never panicked even when runs flowed. Her calm presence in the semifinal partnership with Jemimah also set the tone for the team’s composure under pressure.
