Rumours of Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma returning to India have been circulating after reports claimed that the former India captain purchased a luxury apartment in Mumbai’s Versova for ₹18.29 crore. However, there has been no official confirmation from either Kohli or Anushka regarding a permanent move back to India.
The couple reportedly shifted to London in February 2024, primarily to stay away from constant media attention and enjoy a more private family life. Since then, they have largely remained based in the UK.
While reports suggest Kohli could spend more time in India, it may be linked to his cricket commitments rather than a permanent relocation. India have a busy ODI schedule over the next few months, beginning with a three-match series against the West Indies on September 27, followed by a five-match ODI tour of New Zealand. The Men in Blue will then return home to host Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka in separate three-match ODI series.
Kohli was last seen in action during India’s recent ODI series against England, where he scored 144 runs in three matches, including knocks of 65 and 74. Despite his efforts, India lost the series 2-1 after injuries to key players such as Washington Sundar and Jasprit Bumrah disrupted the team’s balance.
The 37-year-old remains fully focused on representing India at the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. After finishing as the tournament’s highest run-scorer with a record 765 runs in the 2023 World Cup, Kohli will be eager to help India lift the trophy next year. Alongside Rohit Sharma, he will be hoping to end his ODI career on the biggest possible high after India’s heartbreaking defeat to Australia in the 2023 World Cup final.
