Virat Kohli has described matches between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings in Bengaluru as some of the most intense encounters in the IPL, highlighting the unique atmosphere created by travelling fans.
In a JioStar video recorded during IPL 2025, Kohli pointed out how CSK supporters often fill sections of the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, adding an extra layer of rivalry even in RCB’s home games.
“One team we’ve historically had the most intense games against is CSK in Bengaluru. Their fans travel in huge numbers and often occupy an entire section, which creates a unique and competitive atmosphere,” Kohli said.
A rivalry built on history and fan power
The RCB-CSK rivalry is among the oldest in the IPL, with the two sides facing off 35 times. CSK hold the upper hand with 21 wins, while RCB have managed 13 victories.

“In Chennai, it’s all yellow — pure CSK support. In Bengaluru, fans are more welcoming, but CSK supporters still come in large numbers, which builds tension and makes the contest even more exciting,” he added.
