History was created on Friday, May 29, as Rajasthan Royals’ teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continued his extraordinary IPL 2026 campaign with another record-breaking innings. The 15-year-old opener smashed a stunning 96 off just 47 deliveries against Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh.

Although he narrowly missed out on a century, Sooryavanshi once again rewrote the record books, breaking multiple milestones during his breathtaking knock. His innings, coupled with a late flourish from Donovan Ferreira, helped Rajasthan Royals post a formidable total of 214/6.

Here are five remarkable records Vaibhav Sooryavanshi achieved during his innings against Gujarat Titans:

Fastest To 1,000 IPL Runs In Terms Of Balls Faced

Sooryavanshi became the fastest batter in IPL history to reach 1,000 career runs in terms of balls faced. The Rajasthan Royals opener reached the landmark in just 440 deliveries, surpassing the previous record held by Andre Russell, who needed 545 balls to complete 1,000 IPL runs.

Most Powerplay Runs In A Single IPL Season

The youngster scored 31 runs in the Powerplay against Gujarat Titans, taking his season tally in the first six overs to 521 runs. In doing so, he broke David Warner’s long-standing record of 467 Powerplay runs, set during Sunrisers Hyderabad’s title-winning campaign in IPL 2016.

Most Boundaries In A T20 Tournament

Sooryavanshi also set a new world record for the most boundaries (fours and sixes combined) in a single T20 tournament. He surpassed Jos Buttler’s previous record of 128 boundaries and now sits alone at the top of the list.

Youngest Batter To Score 700 Runs In An IPL Season

The 15-year-old became the youngest player ever to cross the 700-run mark in a single IPL season. He achieved the feat at the age of just 15 years and 63 days, shattering the previous record held by Gujarat Titans opener B Sai Sudharsan.

First Uncapped Player To Score 700+ Runs In An IPL Season

Before the match, Sooryavanshi needed only 20 runs to reach the landmark. He comfortably got there and became the first uncapped player in IPL history to score more than 700 runs in a single season. He also eclipsed Yashasvi Jaiswal’s previous uncapped record of 625 runs, set in IPL 2023.

Despite Rajasthan Royals eventually falling short in their quest to reach the final, Sooryavanshi’s incredible season continues to be one of the biggest stories of IPL 2026, with the teenager establishing himself as one of the most exciting talents in world cricket.
