USA medium pacer Shadley van Schalkwyk continued his impressive run in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, claiming his second four-wicket haul of the tournament. After picking up 4/25 against India in Mumbai, the 37-year-old followed it up with another four-fer against Pakistan in Colombo.
Van Schalkwyk’s scalps included key batters Saim Ayub, captain Salman Ali Agha, Shadab Khan, and Faheem Ashraf — the same Faheem who had taken the game away from the Netherlands in Pakistan’s previous match. He once again finished with impressive figures of 4/25 from his four overs, underlining his growing influence in the tournament.
Speaking after the innings, Van Schalkwyk said his focus was firmly on enjoying the game and trusting his process rather than chasing numbers.
“I’m not going to lie — I’m always enjoying my cricket. I love playing the game, so enjoying it comes naturally. The results and wickets take care of themselves if you stick to the process. The pitch looked batter-friendly, so I just trusted my plans as much as I could,” he said.
The USA bowler also backed his team to chase the target.
“If we get a good wicket, anything can happen. I’ll definitely back our boys,” he added.
Born in Cape Town, South Africa, in 1988, Van Schalkwyk was once part of the South Africa Under-19 setup, though he narrowly missed out on the 2009 U19 World Cup due to eligibility timelines. Despite never earning a senior national call-up, he built a strong domestic career, featuring in 97 first-class matches, scoring 2,593 runs and taking 239 wickets.
He began his domestic journey with Western Province in 2008 before making his mark with Knights and Free State, establishing himself as a reliable all-rounder on the South African circuit.
After moving to the United States in the early 2020s, Van Schalkwyk worked his way through the Minor League Cricket system with the Seattle Thunderbolts before breaking into the national side. He made his T20I debut for the USA in April 2024 and is also part of the Los Angeles Knight Riders in Major League Cricket (MLC).
Now, with back-to-back four-wicket hauls against cricketing heavyweights, Van Schalkwyk is fast emerging as one of the standout performers of the 2026 T20 World Cup.
