Chandigarh, August 27: The excitement is building with less than a week to go for the Mankind Pharma Sher-E-Punjab T20 League 2026, with teams finalising their leadership groups ahead of the tournament.
Mohali Kings have named experienced all-rounder Ramandeep Singh as their captain, while left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar has been appointed vice-captain.
Speaking about the appointments, the Director Cricket & Head Coach, Harwinder Singh said, “Ramandeep Singh is a brilliant player and has played a lot of cricket at a high level. He understands the game very well, and his experience will be very important for our team, especially for the younger players. Harpreet Brar is also an experienced cricketer who understands the game well, so we felt he was the right person to support Ramandeep as vice-captain.”
The Team Owner Manpreet Singh Samana also backed the leadership duo and highlighted the importance of having experienced players at the top. “We wanted players who could lead the team by example. Ramandeep has the experience, skills and understanding needed to lead a T20 side. Harpreet has also played at a good level and brings a lot of knowledge to the group. We believe both of them will play an important role in helping the team during the tournament.”
Ramandeep Singh expressed his happiness after being given the responsibility and said he is looking forward to leading the side. “I am very happy to be named the captain of Mohali Kings. It is a big responsibility, but I am looking forward to it. We have a good mix of experienced players and young talent, and my focus will be on bringing everyone together and getting the best out of the team.”
The all-rounder also spoke about his approach as captain. “As a captain, I want to keep things simple and make sure everyone knows their role. T20 cricket can change very quickly, so it is important to stay calm and make the right decisions. I will try to lead from the front and give my best for the team.”
Harpreet Brar, meanwhile, welcomed his appointment as vice-captain and said he is ready to support Ramandeep and the team. “I am very happy to be named the vice-captain of Mohali Kings. Ramandeep is an experienced player and a very good leader, so I am looking forward to working with him. My role will be to support him and the team in every possible way.”
Brar also believes the tournament will provide an excellent opportunity for young players from Punjab. “We have some very talented young players in the squad. Playing alongside experienced cricketers will help them learn and grow. We want to create a good environment where everyone can play with confidence and give their best.”
The Mankind Pharma Sher-E-Punjab T20 League 2026 will be played from August 30 to September 13 at the I.S. Bindra Stadium in Mohali. The tournament will feature six teams and 27 matches, bringing together some of Punjab’s leading cricketers and promising young talent. The matches will be broadcast live on Sony Sports Network, with live streaming available on SonyLIV.
