India’s selectors will meet in Mumbai on Tuesday (August 19) to finalize the squad for the Asia Cup 2025 (Sept 9–28). According to a Cricbuzz report, star performers Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj are unlikely to make the cut despite their recent success in England.
Selectors are expected to back Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson at the top, with Yashasvi Jaiswal competing for the third opener’s slot. The middle order should feature Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, and possibly Shivam Dube or Washington Sundar, while Jitesh Sharma is set to return as the second wicketkeeper.
In bowling, Jasprit Bumrah will spearhead the pace attack alongside Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna/Harshit Rana, and Hardik Pandya. The spin unit is likely to include Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakaravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi, and vice-captain Axar Patel.
