The stage is set for a blockbuster finish to IPL 2026. On Sunday, May 31, defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will take on Gujarat Titans (GT) in the final at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the largest cricket stadium in the world.
With the title clash scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM IST, thousands of fans from across the country are expected to travel to Ahmedabad to witness the grand finale. Recognising the surge in demand from cricket enthusiasts, Western Railway has announced two special superfast trains on special fares between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
The move comes after a sharp rise in travel demand following the confirmation of the finalists, with fans eager to make their way to Ahmedabad for the season’s biggest match.
“Seeing the demand for the IPL final, we introduced these special trains. Bookings opened today and tickets have been selling rapidly, with occupancy already nearing full capacity. We continuously assess demand and operate special services accordingly, just as we do during holidays and festival seasons,” said Western Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Vineet Abhishek.
For fans planning to arrive well before the match and soak in the pre-final atmosphere, the Mumbai Central–Ahmedabad AC Superfast Special will depart Mumbai Central at 6:20 AM IST on May 31 and reach Ahmedabad at 12:40 PM IST, giving travellers ample time before the evening showdown.
Meanwhile, supporters looking to return immediately after the final can opt for the Ahmedabad–Bandra Terminus Special, which will leave Ahmedabad at 3:50 AM IST on June 1 and arrive in Mumbai at 12:15 PM IST.
Bookings for both trains opened on Friday through PRS counters as well as the IRCTC website, with tickets reportedly selling at a brisk pace as excitement builds for the IPL 2026 final.
