India Women created history by registering their first-ever Test victory at Lord’s, thrashing England Women by a massive 270-run margin in a memorable performance. Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, the visitors dominated all facets of the game, with Smriti Mandhana, Yastika Bhatia and Kranti Gaud emerging as the stars of the historic triumph.
India were bowled out for 285 in the first innings after a mixed batting display, but bounced back brilliantly with the ball. Kranti Gaud produced a sensational five-wicket haul to dismiss England for 170, becoming the first woman cricketer to have her name etched on the Lord’s Honours Board. India then piled on the runs in their second innings, with Yastika Bhatia scoring a magnificent century to also earn a place on the iconic honours board. Chasing 457, England were bundled out for just 186 as India sealed one of the biggest wins in Women’s Test history.
Kranti Gaud and Yastika Bhatia Create Lord’s History
Kranti Gaud and Yastika Bhatia became the first women cricketers to feature on the prestigious Lord’s Honours Board. Gaud’s outstanding five-wicket haul in England’s first innings gave India complete control of the match, while Bhatia’s superb century in the second innings helped the visitors set an imposing target of 457.
Smriti Mandhana’s Twin Fifties Power India
Smriti Mandhana was India’s most consistent batter across both innings, scoring half-centuries each time she walked out to bat. She top-scored with 83 in the first innings, receiving valuable support from Harmanpreet Kaur and Deepti Sharma, who also struck fifties.
In the second innings, Mandhana added another composed 70, smashing nine boundaries and a six. Although she narrowly missed out on a century once again, her 88-run opening stand with Shafali Verma laid the perfect platform for Yastika Bhatia’s match-defining hundred, which ultimately propelled India to a landmark victory at the Home of Cricket.
