New Delhi, August 18: South Delhi Superstarz produced a dominant batting display as Sanat Sangwan and Anmol Sharma helped the team chase down a target of 170 without losing a wicket, with more than four overs to spare. Sangwan led the way with a brilliant unbeaten century.
Reflecting on his innings and the win, he said, “When we came out to chase a target of 160-170, we did not think too much about the score. In T20 cricket, there can be a lot of pressure around the target, but we wanted to play on merit and back our strengths. There is good chemistry between me and Anmol, and we have been giving the team good starts in every game. Our start was a little slow, but we just wanted to avoid making mistakes in a hurry. We knew that we could change the game in a couple of overs.”
“This win is very special to me. It was my first century in the DPL, so it is a very good feeling. We have also gained good momentum, and we want to carry that into the upcoming matches,” he added.
Crediting the coaching staff for creating a positive environment, the opener said, “Our coach, Sarandeep sir, has told us from the first day that we have to dominate, play to our strengths and believe that we can come back at any time. Most importantly, we have to enjoy the game. There is a very relaxed and positive environment in the team, and when the dressing room atmosphere is good, the whole team stays happy and performs better.”
Batting first, West Delhi Lions were bowled out for 169. Anshuman Hooda was the star with the ball, taking an impressive 4/27 in 3.5 overs, while Vivek Tiwari picked up 2/16.
The Lions lost Ankit Kumar early, but Nitish Rana and Krish Yadav added 83 runs for the second wicket. Rana scored a fluent 60 off 33 balls before his dismissal triggered a collapse. Krish followed soon after for 25 off 26, while Ayush Doseja top-scored with 27 off 20 as the Lions lost wickets regularly.
Chasing 170, South Delhi Superstarz made light work of the target. Sanat Sangwan and Anmol Sharma put together an unbeaten opening partnership and kept the Lions under pressure from the start.
Sangwan led the charge with a brilliant unbeaten 111 off 54 balls, while Sharma provided solid support with an unbeaten 55 off 38.
