Rajasthan Royals (RR)

Rajasthan Royals still have the simplest path among all the teams fighting for the last playoff spot. If RR win their remaining match, they are almost through to the playoffs without depending too much on other results. Their net run rate is also in a decent position, which gives them a slight advantage over the other teams. The biggest positive for RR is that they still control their own destiny. One good performance is enough to put them in a strong position. However, a loss would make things very complicated and could push them out depending on other results.

Punjab Kings (PBKS)

Punjab Kings need to win their last game and then hope Mumbai Indians win their remaining matches. PBKS have kept themselves alive with some important victories in the second half of the season, but they no longer have complete control over qualification.Their inconsistency throughout the tournament has hurt them badly. Even if PBKS win, they will still spend time watching other matches and calculating scenarios. Net run rate could also become important if multiple teams finish on the same points.Still, PBKS fans will believe there is hope because the team has shown fighting spirit in crunch moments this season.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

KKR are still mathematically alive, but their chances are slightly more difficult compared to RR and PBKS. First, they must win their remaining match. Along with that, they need Lucknow Super Giants to win their games as well. The reason KKR are in this situation is because of their mixed season. At times they looked like one of the strongest teams in the league, but they failed to maintain momentum consistently.Their qualification chances now depend equally on their own performance and outside help. If results go their way, KKR could sneak into the playoffs at the final moment.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

CSK’s road to qualification is one of the toughest among the teams still in the race. They need to win their match and also hope both Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians win their respective matches. For a team known for handling pressure situations calmly, CSK will still back themselves to stay alive till the end. Experience could play a major role here, especially in a high-pressure final league game. But realistically, CSK are now heavily dependent on other teams. One unwanted result elsewhere could end their campaign even before they play.

Delhi Capitals (DC)

Delhi Capitals have the hardest qualification scenario among all remaining teams. DC must win their match and also need RR, PBKS, and CSK to lose their games. That is a lot to ask at this stage of the tournament. DC have struggled with consistency this season and left themselves with very little margin for error.Even if they do their job and win, they will still need multiple results to go in their favour. Their playoff hopes are alive, but only just.

Final Thoughts

With RCB, SRH, and GT already qualified, the race for the final IPL 2026 playoff spot is going right down to the wire. RR currently hold the strongest position, while PBKS, KKR, CSK, and DC are all depending on a mix of victories and favourable results. The final week matches are set to bring plenty of drama, pressure, and last-minute twists before the playoff lineup is officially confirmed.
