Madhya Pradesh all-rounder Saransh Jain has earned his maiden Test call-up. In an exclusive conversation with cricket22yards.com during the MPL 2026, the off-spinner talked about the league and his then India A call-up.

Excerpts.

On the Madhya Pradesh League as a platform

“The Madhya Pradesh League is a huge platform for young cricketers. We already have 11-12 players from the state playing in the IPL, and there is plenty of talent in this league. If players make the most of this opportunity, they can definitely move to the next level.”

On MPCA’s initiative

“We had been hoping for a tournament like this for a long time, and now we finally have it. I would like to thank MPCA and Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia for organising the league so well and creating such a wonderful platform for cricketers in Madhya Pradesh.”

On earning another India A call-up

“Representing India is always a special feeling. Wearing the Indian jersey gives you a different kind of pride and motivation. I will give my best and hope to perform well whenever I get the opportunity.”

On preparing for India duty

“Right now, my focus is on the Madhya Pradesh League, but I am also preparing for the upcoming red-ball cricket. Bowling with the red ball is different from white-ball cricket, so I am practising with both. The Royal Nimar franchise has provided me with excellent facilities, and I am grateful for their support.”

On balancing batting and bowling

“I have always enjoyed batting since childhood. My father and coach, Subodh Jain, always told me to think like a batter whenever I was batting. That advice has helped me a lot. In today’s game, being an all-rounder creates more opportunities, and I love contributing with both bat and ball.”

On mentoring young players

“We try to share our experience with the younger players, but we also learn a lot from them. Every player has a different journey and perspective. Experienced players like Kumar Kartikeya and I always discuss the mental side of the game with youngsters because once you reach a certain level, your mindset becomes just as important as your skills.”
