Abhimanyu Easwaran has been named captain of a strong Bengal Senior Men’s Team for the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2025–26 season, starting October 15, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) announced on Wednesday (October 8). Wicketkeeper-batter Abishek Porel will serve as the vice-captain.
Bengal’s bowling attack gets a major boost with the inclusion of the experienced pace duo Mohammed Shami and Akash Deep, adding depth and firepower to the squad. In the batting department, seasoned campaigners Anustup Majumdar and Sudip Chatterjee, along with the talented Sudip Kumar Gharami, will anchor the middle order. Promising youngsters Rahul Prasad, Saurabh Kumar Singh, and Vishal Bhati will look to make their mark in the longer format.
The team will be guided by head coach Laxmi Ratan Shukla, with Arup Bhattacharjee and Shib Shankar Paul as assistant coaches, while Charanjit Singh Matharu takes charge as the fielding coach.
Bengal will kick off their Ranji Trophy campaign against Uttarakhand at Eden Gardens on October 15, followed by their second home match against Gujarat on October 25.
