The former Pakistan captain, who led the country to its only ODI World Cup title in 1992, has been in prison for the past three years. Recently, 22 former cricket captains, including India greats Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev, signed a letter to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif seeking proper medical treatment for Khan.

During their interview with Atherton, Imran Khan’s sons revealed that they have not seen their father for nearly four years and have not spoken to him since March 2026. They also raised concerns about his treatment and health while in prison.

When asked when they last saw their father, one of his sons said:

“It was in November 22 (2022).”

When asked when they last spoke to Imran Khan, the other son replied:

“In March (2026).”

Imran Khan has reportedly experienced problems with his eyesight while in prison and has been taken to hospital for medical treatment on occasions. However, after being declared fit, he has been moved back to prison.

Imran Khan’s sons concerned about his safety

Speaking about their desire to travel to Pakistan and meet their father, one of his sons said they were aware of the risks involved, including the possibility of being arrested.

“There is a risk that we might get arrested, but at this point, ultimately we just want to see him. We are so concerned about his situation.”

The comments highlighted the family’s concerns over Khan’s health and their difficulty in maintaining regular contact with him.

Ramiz Raja opens up on Imran Khan’s health

Former Pakistan cricketer Ramiz Raja also recently spoke about Imran Khan’s situation during an appearance on the Stick to Cricket podcast by Overlap Cricket.

Raja was asked about the former Pakistan captain’s health and his time in prison by former England players Alastair Cook and David Lloyd.

Describing Khan’s current situation, Raja said:

“He is in isolation. He’s got a lot of fans, but it’s just that the poor guy has been behind bars for three years now. It’s been a tough one for him.”

Raja also spoke about Khan’s recent eye problem and said that the issue appeared to have been treated.

“Just a week back, there was some problem with his eye that seems to have been sorted, but otherwise, he’s holding up. I mean, he’s got a solid temperament, as we all know.”

Khan remains one of the most prominent figures in Pakistan’s cricketing history, having captained the country to its historic 1992 World Cup triumph before entering politics and eventually serving as Pakistan’s Prime Minister.
