Even though IPL 2026 ended more than a month ago, speculation over Hardik Pandya’s future ahead of the 2027 season continues to gather pace. A recent post on X claimed that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had approached Mumbai Indians (MI) for the India all-rounder, but is there any truth to the rumour?
According to the viral post, CSK offered ₹10 crore along with Shivam Dube and Dewald Brevis in exchange for Pandya. It further claimed that Mumbai Indians demanded Shivam Dube and young batter Ayush Mhatre instead, a proposal that CSK reportedly rejected.
However, there is no credible evidence to support these claims. No reliable media outlet or official source has reported any such trade discussions, making the rumour unsubstantiated at this stage.
Any concrete updates regarding player trades, retentions or releases are expected only around October or November, when franchises begin finalising their squads for IPL 2027. While there has been speculation over Pandya’s future with Mumbai Indians following a disappointing campaign, there is currently no confirmation that he will leave the franchise.
Both Pandya and Dube, who played important roles in India’s back-to-back T20 World Cup triumphs, endured underwhelming IPL 2026 seasons.
Pandya, who captained Mumbai Indians, managed just four wins in 14 matches as the five-time champions finished ninth despite boasting stars such as Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, Ryan Rickelton, Tilak Varma and Quinton de Kock. Pandya himself scored only 206 runs in 10 innings at an average of 22.89 and picked up just four wickets at an average of 64.75.
Dube enjoyed a relatively better season with the bat, scoring 270 runs in 13 matches at an average of 38.57 and a strike rate of 158.82. However, his impact with the ball was limited, as he claimed only one wicket at an average of 64. His fielding also came under scrutiny after dropping several straightforward catches during the season.
