Cricket Canada President Arvinder Khosa Targeted In Shooting Incident In Surrey

Cricket Canada president Arvinder Khosa was targeted in a shooting incident at his residence in Surrey, British Columbia, early on Wednesday morning, according to a report by CBC News.

The attack reportedly took place around 4:40 AM local time at Khosa’s home in the Newton neighbourhood while family members were inside the house. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.

The shooting has raised major concerns within the Canadian cricket community, especially as it comes just days after Khosa officially replaced Amjad Bajwa as president of Cricket Canada following a court-ordered leadership election.

Authorities have confirmed that Khosa remains safe but has been placed under increased security as police continue their investigation into the incident. No arrests have been made so far.

The incident comes amid growing controversy surrounding Cricket Canada’s administration. In recent months, the governing body has faced allegations related to corruption, intimidation, and alleged links with organised crime networks.

A previous report by CBC had claimed that members of the Canadian cricket community were threatened by individuals linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Khosa himself was also named in allegations involving player intimidation and alleged links to individuals connected with organised crime. However, Khosa and others accused in the reports have strongly denied all allegations.

The controversy deepened further after questions were raised over a group-stage match between Canada national cricket team and New Zealand national cricket team during the T20 World Cup in Chennai earlier this year.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) reportedly looked into suspicious events during the match after Canada captain Dilpreet Singh Bajwa conceded an expensive over that included a no-ball and a wide delivery.

Former Canada head coach Khurram Chohan also reportedly claimed in a recorded phone conversation that certain Cricket Canada officials pressured him regarding team selection decisions.

The latest shooting incident has further intensified scrutiny on Cricket Canada and raised serious questions about safety and governance within Canadian cricket.
