The decision followed high-level discussions involving the ICC, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul Islam. The talks took place in Lahore and focused on maintaining the integrity of the tournament and the broader cricket ecosystem.
Earlier in the evening, positive signals had already begun to surface. During the PSL auction in Lahore, both Naqvi and former PCB chairman Najam Sethi hinted that good news was imminent. At the same time, the BCB publicly urged Pakistan to reconsider its stance and play the match “for the benefit of the entire cricket ecosystem”.
Soon after, the ICC confirmed that Bangladesh would face no sanctions, describing its engagement with PCB and BCB as “open, constructive, and congenial”.

Following sustained appeals from ICC member boards—many of whom highlighted the financial impact a boycott could have on Associate nations—Pakistan made its position official.
“In view of the outcomes achieved in multilateral discussions, as well as the requests of friendly countries, the Government of Pakistan hereby directs the Pakistan National Cricket Team to take the field on February 15, 2026, for its scheduled fixture in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup,” the statement read.
“This decision has been taken to protect the spirit of cricket and support the continuity of the global game.”
Fan Excitement Builds as Ticket Buzz Grows
With confirmation finally in place, excitement among fans has surged. The IND vs PAK match is expected to be one of the most sought-after fixtures of the tournament, with demand likely to outstrip supply.
The BCCI has already rolled out Phase 3 of ticket sales, following earlier phases on December 11, 2025, and January 14. So far, tickets for India’s league games against the USA and the Netherlands have been released.
