The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) president A Jagan Mohan Rao and four other officials were arrested on Thursday by the Telangana Police in connection with allegations raised by IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad during the 2025 season.

According to officials, the arrests were made after the Telangana CID questioned the accused about the matter. Those detained include Treasurer C Srinivas Rao, CEO Sunil Kante, General Secretary Rajender Yadav, and his wife G Kavita.

What’s the Case About?

The controversy stems from a formal complaint made by Sunrisers Hyderabad, accusing HCA officials of using “blackmailing tactics” and demanding extra complimentary tickets during the IPL season. The franchise had written to both the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the IPL Governing Council, warning that it might move its home matches out of Hyderabad if the harassment continued.

In response, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had ordered a full inquiry into the matter.

However, HCA president Jagan Mohan Rao had earlier denied all allegations, claiming that no such demands were made by the association.

The investigation is ongoing.
