Rohit Sharma is reportedly in line to return as Mumbai Indians captain for the 2027 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, two years after handing over the leadership to Hardik Pandya. According to a Sports Tak report, the franchise has internally decided to bring back the five-time IPL-winning captain in a bid to improve the team’s stability and competitiveness.
The report suggests that the Mumbai Indians management is considering replacing Hardik following two disappointing seasons under his leadership. Although Suryakumar Yadav, India’s T20I vice-captain, and other experienced options were reportedly discussed, the franchise has now turned towards Rohit, who led Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles.
